Project Description

Hello, there!   This time I want to share my experience in Bhagirathi Ayurveda with you.

My journey started a few months ago when I put on my backpack and went to India . I decided to start this exiting trip in the south, from Tamil Nadu to Kerala, Goa, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh. What motivated me to go on with this adventure was the opportunity of getting to know and experience a very different culture from mine, explore ayurveda, practice some yoga, and immerse myself in the Indian local life.

Since I am currently working with holistic therapies, I really wanted to study ayurveda. Fortunately a friend of mine recommended me coming to Bhagirathi Ayurveda Centre in India.

I have to confess that I am now extremely happy I decided to go!  I got to meet amazing and open hearted people. So, in this post, I want to tell you a bit about the ayurveda course and the amazing things I learned.

In case you’re not familiarized with these terms, ayurveda –this can be translated as “life-knowledge”– or ayurveda medicine is a type of complementary or alternative medicine that was developed in India.

In Pune, back in february 2017, I started studying in Bhagirathi Ayurveda Centre, which focus its work in honestly administrative professionally managed ayurveda treatments, trainings and researches.

Here you’ll find great and professional programs in severe branches of ayurevda, such as Massages, Panchakarma therapies, diet, cooking, herbal compound preparations.

This centre is managed by a couple, Dr. Yogita and Dr. Manoj. These two are really dedicated professionals, teachers and doctors as well. From my experience, I can assure you that Yogita and Manoj are truly fantastic at what they do, especially because they were always ready to answer to any question, and listen to every need you could have.

I got a tailored program only for me, which covered massage techniques and panchakarma treatments. I was glad to see that theory and practice lectures were very well organize, so this method truly allows students to have enough time to integrate both elements. In addition, the school has a room prepared in case students prefer to stay there. I feel very grateful with Dr. Yogita and Dr. Manoj because they not only were very welcoming, but they also shared their knowledge with me with kindness and patience.

During this incredible adventure, I stayed in the room they offered, located in center of the city. My course was in the mornings, so in the afternoon I received a whole treatment for myself: shirodhara and and swedana. ( you can see in the photos)

Swedana:  procedure of inducing perspiration by application of heat to the body. This sweating induced by steam, it liquefies the toxins and increases the flow of toxins to Koshtha (gastrointestinal tract) from where they are eliminated by various Panchakarma treatments.

Shirodhara: (Shiro – Head, Dhara – Flow) is considered as the most divine of all Ayurvedic therapies. It is an ancient Ayurvedic healing practice performed in India for over 5,000 years. In this wonderful body detox program with relaxation process, the scalp and forehead is caressed with a thin stream of medicated lukewarm oil. Shirodhara is extremely relaxing, rejuvenating and enhances the functioning of the central nervous system. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions including eye diseases, sinusitis, and memory loss. This is one of the most divine therapies which helps in awakening your body’s intuitive knowledge.

To anyone interested in learning ayurveda, I highly recommend the Bhagirathi Ayurveda Centre in India because teachers are flexible and they are willing to adjust their teaching methods to what you’re interested in. I also liked the fact that they make the medicated oil themselves, so you can be sure it is authentic.

And now lets get a massage!
